MEN OF KENT

MONTHLY SOCIAL A most enjoyable programme was provided by Mr. Harvey at the monthly social of the Auckland branch of the Association of Men of Kent and Kentish Men held in tho Fabian Club rooms this week. The items included songs by Miss Meryl Harvey, Miss Frances Spencer and Mr. Stewart Harvey, pianoforte solos by Miss Valarie Shirley, concerted numbers by tho Balmoral Male Quartet, and magic by Mr. Alan Matthews. Tho accompanist was Mrs. H. S. Harvey. The president, Mr. J. W. Jcnks, presided and welcomed several new members, while the hostesses were Mrs. Jenks and > Mrs. Eady Payne. A description of Captain Scott's Antarctic expedition was given by Mr. Jenks, who spoko of tho organisation, tho hardships endured, and the scientific achievements. Dancing was held after supper, the music being provided by a voluntary orchestra of club members, comprising Mrs. Payne, Mr. H. Warder, Mr. J. B. Jones and Mr. S. Bowmer.
