LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

Tokantii. —A large number of members and visitors attended a meeting of the Tokanui branch of the League of Mothers. A presentation was made by Mrs. F. 11. Barnett to Mrs. F. who is shortly to leave the district. Regret at losing the valued help of the president, Mrs. Barnett, was expressed by Mrs. Cruickshank, who spoke of the league's appreciation of Mrs. Barnett's work, and asked her to accept, on behalf of the league, a crystal salad bowl and a reading lnmp. Mr. D. H. Cavers gave an interesting address on his recent trip to Sydney to attend the Anzac memorial service in connection with tho sesquicentonnial celebrations. Mrs. W. McCready entertained with a recitation. Two competitions were hold, the winner of ono being Mrs. Bedford, while in the other Mrs. Bedford and Mrs. Greig tied. Sandringham.—Mrs. Wright presided at the monthly meeting held recently, A member of the Waibi link branch was welcomed. An address on China was given by Dr. C. W. Parr, and was greatly appreciated. Reference was niado to the death of Mrs. Sullivan, and members stood in silence for a few moments. A programme of entertainment was provided by Miss Inwood, soloist, Miss Zita Howell, pianist, and Mervyn and Bernico Hynes, elocutionary items.
