BIRKENHEAD WOMEN

ASSOCIATION MEETING PRESENTATION TO MEMBER The monthly meeting of the Birkenhead Women's Association, held in the Returned Soldiers' Hall, was largely attended. The president, Mrs. E. J. Osborne, Mayoress of Birkenhead, who presided, stated that the collection organised on Poppy Day amounted to £SB 10s. The business before the National Council of Women was reviewed by Mrs. W. B. Darlow. Approval was given to the remit urging that the sale of contraceptives to juveniles should be curtailed. . A short play reading by Mrs. Craig, Mrs Dyson and Mrs. I' orrest was competition, "People of Note," was won by Mrs. G. W. Spraggon. Mrs. J. P. McPhail, a former Mayoress and ex-president, who is leaving on a holiday trip to the Islands, was presented with a black leather handbag and a bouquet.
