BANKING LEGISLATION AUSTRALIAN UNEASINESS In his address to shareholders of the Bank of Adelaide at the annual meeting, the chairman, Sir Howard Lloyd, said the business of the bank continued to expand along healthy lines. The general tone of the bank's advances had been improved by the good season aud better trading. As a result, the directors had hoped to increase the dividend rate, but that had been thwarted by a new consideration arising from projected legislation following upon the report of the lloyal Commission on Banking. The accounts of the bank were published in the Herald on April 21. A dividend of 5 per cent was distributed for the vear, against 4£ per cent in 1937.
