SOCCER GAME

MATCH AGAINST NAVY PLAY ON SATURDAY WEEK CHATHAM CUP COMPETITION Arrangements for a representative match with the Navy on Saturday week were discussed at last night's meeting of the Control Board of the Auckland Football Association. The chairman, Mr. L. Munro, reported that at a conference held at the Naval Base last season it had been agreed to stage a competition of three games between Auckland representatives and the Navy this season. For this purpose the Hon. E. R. Drummond had offered to supply a trophy and this game will be the first of the series. The question of a Navy team entering the competitions while in port was considered and it was agreed to accept an entry from a naval side for the Falcon Cup compete tion.

The New Zealand Council advised that entries for the Chatham Cup competition would close on May 15, the entry fee being £1 3s. The council agreed to pay second class train and steamer fares for the semifinalists and finalists, the teams to provide their own hotel expenses. As this decision varied very little from that of past years, when the competition has always interfered with the local fixtures, several alternative schemes were suggested for finding the local finalist. It was agreed to send each club a copy of the New Zealand Council's letter and, if there were any local, entries, the method of deciding the qualifying round would receive attention at a later board mMt ' n K- .. r, , J Advice was received from the .New Zealand Council that tho replacement of injured players could only be made up to and including half-time.
