GIFTS TO HITLER
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION LION CUB INCLUDED NEW TANKS ON 'PARADE LONDON, April 20 A lion cub was among the hundreds of birthday gifts sent to Herr Hitler, says the Berlin correspondent of the Daily Telegraph. The flow of gifts occupied a special corps of protective guards all day in piling them up. The Minister of Propaganda, Dr. Goebbels, gave a bound volume of all the speeches made in the period of the Austrian annexation, including Dr. Schuschnigg's farewell address. Herr Himmler, police chief, gave a dagger inscribed: "We will always be tlio same in good times and in bad." Herr Hitler took the salute at a great march past on tho Unter den Linden. Nine 18-ton tanks, the heaviest seen in Germaify, made a surprise appearance at the review. They are remarkably fast in manoeuvre and each is armed with a 4-inch gun and several machine-guns. Herr Hitler's birthday was celebrated in Austria with many military processions and the planting of hundreds of trees, says tho Vienna correspondent of the Telegraph.
