As long ago as . conducted an enlightenment campaign in North Norfolk on the urgent need of hastening and expanding air rearmament. The Dowager Lady Lozens-Hardy, newly returned from a visit to Italy, kindly spoke for mo on one occasion, and then said "Italy is openly sneering at the 'old and decrepit British lion without teeth or cliiws and Engand should realise this jeering contempt of Italy." Mr Winston Churchill in 1936 in the House of Commons expressed his doubt whether it would be possible for Britain to catch up the three-years' lead in air rearmament that Mr. Baldwin (the de facto J " ot c,e . J»re Parliamentary leader) had permitted Germany to take. According to "official report" of the defence debate of March 7, Mr. Chamberlain has jettisoned Mr. (now Lord) Baldwin's promise of air parity with Germany. H. Wansey Bayly. —. £
