DARGAVILLE INTERESTS
VALUE OF ROAD SERVICE LINK WITH AUCKLAND [by telegraph OTO correspondent] DARGAVILLE, Wednesday , The value of the Northern Transport Company's Auckland-Dargaville service to the town and district was emphasised at a meeting of the Dargaville Chamber of Commerce, which decided to make representations to the No. 1 Transport Authority asking that an effort should be made to keep an efficient road service operating between Dargaville and Auckland. Replying in a letter to the chamber's representations that the Government departments in Dargaville should be accommodated in one building, the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, stated that, although the departments were scattered throughout the town, the cost was low, and a departmental building was hardly warranted at present. - The following officers were elected: — President, Mr. W. R. Sanders; vicepresident, Mr. T. W. McKay; council, Messrs. A. E. Harding, F. A. Jones, C. L. Bagnall, C. R. Mazengarb, R. Gibson, A. Costello, C. N. Taylor, B. Berry, H. H. Tonkin, H. W. Gaukrodger, AV. H. L. Roberts, M. L. Chappell; honorary auditor, Mr. J. Hogg.
