CLOSING OF SHOPS BUTCHERS ANO BAKERS SATURDAY BREAD DELIVERY Although the majority of shops, offices and factories will be closed from Thursday until the following Tuesday during the Easter holiday period, butchers' shops will be Open on Saturday morning, while a delivery of bread will bo made on the same day. There will be 110 delivery of bread on Good Friday and Easter Monday, and after Saturday supplies will have to last until Tuesday next. The holidays of butchers' assistants have been fixed by award for Good Friday and Easter Monday only. Under the Retail Shop Assistants' Award, which covers many classes of. establishments, provision is made for holidays on Good I Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Monday, without deductions of pay, ! and the majority of shops will be closed : over the period. A separate award for grocers' assistants makes the same provision. "Easter is the worst time of the I year for bakers, being even busier than i Christmas," said a prominent baker last night. "In addition to the heavy baking of bread which is necessary, there is the demand for hot cross buns to be catered for. The sale of buns last year was a record in several firms, and it is expected to be at least equalled this Easter."
