DETENTION FOR FARM HAND THREE CHARGES ADMITTED "He is just a sneak thief," said Detective-Sergeant Nalder, when George Green, farm labourer, aged 31, pleaded guilty to three charges of theft, before Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday! Accused was charged with stealing drapery and an attache case, valued at £24 19s 6d, the property of Poui Ling Wong, on April 1; a frock valued at £1 7s 6d, on April 1, and a rug valued at £2, about March 24, the property of persons unknown. Detective Roddick said ho accosted accused in Hobson Street about 7.15 p.m. on April 1, when ho was carrying an attache case. He could not give a satisfactory account as to where ho got it, and later mado a statement that lie took is from a parked (tar, which was not locked at the time. The frock was found in tlio case. Detective-Sergeant Nalder said the rug had also been stolen from a car. Accused had two previous convictions for theft. For the theft of the attacho case and contents accused was sentenced to six months reformative detention. On the other two charges he was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within 12 months if called on.
