A ; "DEATH OF MR. WEBB" [from ouh ow>r comiespondem] HUNTLY, Thursday An amusing story of '"a greatly exaggcratod report" of his death in an accident on the West Coast while motoring with Mr. Semple last week ■was told to-day by the Minister of Mines, the Hon. P. C.. Webb. He described how when the report reached Wellington numerous telephone calls •were nnule at different places by various people. A wittily worded telegram was despatched to Mr. Webb by the Hon. Mark -t J/agpn, Leader of the Legislative Council. It read:—"Dear Paddy,—Very thankful indeed no foundation for exaggerated report of your demise. Had J nit been true, you would have had a --wonderful funeral, which would have been of no satisfaction to you and s little §olace to ns. Sincerely trust it " will be many years before a similar report is founded on fact."
