FIGURES FOR MARCH i DWELLINGS AND FLATS The value of building permits issued by the Auckland City Council in March was £70,846, making a total of £167,296 since the beginning of the year, compared with £147,180 for the first three months of 1937 and £192,934 for thp same perio-d in 1936. Included in the 186 permits issued last month tvere 30 dwellings, two medium-sized blocks of flats, a small addition to a store, two shops with dwelling, alterations to a hotel, a block of shops and flats combined and a kindergarten, as well as numerous alterations and additions to premises. Twentv-ono of these homes were estimated to cost £IOOO or less, eight were in the £IOOO to £2OOO class and two were valued at over £2OOO. This makes 68 new homes built this year, as against 72 for the same period of last year and 90 in the-) first three months of 1936.
