GALLOPS AT RICCARTON KILROBE PERFORMS NICELY MILE BY SOVEREIGN LADY STUDLEY ROYAL GOES SOLIDLY [by telegraph OWN correspondent] CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday Conditions were again ideal for training work at Riccarton to-day, and the outside of the course proper was used, for galloping. All the horses booked to race at Waimato on Saturday were worked, while candidates for Westport and also for the Easter meeting at Riccarton added to tho interest.

tWlsgleain easily accounted for Knight Commander over seven furlongs in 1.34. Kilrobe set the main for half a mile by recording 48s along the back stretch.

Ruling Star and Lady Leigh covered half a mile in 49 3-ss. Great Bramble registered 49s and Paper Slipper 50 l-ss.

Half-sister to Silver Scorn Others to gallop half a mile included Love Affair 51' 3-ss, Kindly 51s, Improvident 50 3-ss, Silver Sight 525, Patuma and Nolana 50 3-ss, Dictate and Comus 52 l-ss, Linguist 525, Drink Up and Tom Cat 525, Gold Trek 51 3-ss, Night Hawk and Gay Parade 49 2-5s and Deliuin 49 3-ss. Finauciere reeled off fivo furlongs in 1.1 3-5, the last four in 495. She is considered to be very well treated at Westport and should add to her good record.

Disdain, by Robespierre from Contempt, dam of Silver Scorn, attracted attention by sprinting five furlongs ill 1.1 l-ss, the last four in 48s. She is to have her first race at Iliccarton at Easter.

Density should go well at Waimate. Wild Chase, assisted by Lazybones over the last five furlongs, covered a mile in 1.43 3-5. Sovereign Lady and Swordstick fin- j ished abreast after galloping u mile in 1.41 1-5. Studlcy Royal ran seven furlongs in 1.28 3-5, the last four in 51 2-ss'. With L. J. Ellis in the saddle in the Waimate Cup, Studlcy Royal is likely to be well favoured. Pi ilk Comet, Flashlight and Dividend covered seven furlongs in 1.32. Wine Card strode over a mile in 1.44: Rebel Lad finished slightly in front of Willie Win at the end of seven furlongs in 1.31 2-5. Roy Bun, Contract and Courtyard finished in that order after covering six furlongs in 1.18 1-5. Haulbowline, who is now in J. B. Pearson's stable, jumped four brush hurdles cleanly and at a fast pace. Great Star Reappears

Great Star made a reappearanco on the tracks. Ho looks very bright after his recent spell, and his owner-trainer has hopes of getting some more racing out of liim. . Royal Chief suffered a good deal from foot trouble at Awapuni and this accounted for his rear position for most of tho .journey in the Awapuni Gold Cup. He is now undergoing treatment and is to be put aside until the middle of June. The three-vcar-old gelding Settlement is now a member of F. D. Jones' team at Riccarton. His owners, Messrs. H. H, and N. H. Barlow, live in Christchurch, and for that reason only he has been transferred from H. B. Lorigan's Trentham stable. R. Boale, who has made Riccarton his headquarters for tho past few years, has decided to transfer to Awapuni and wiil leave for his new home at the conclusion of the River ton Easter meeting, at which he will ride Survoy and Trumpet Blast. Bealo has been very successful as a jumping rider and his services have been in keen*demand, but lie cbusiders he will get more opportunities in the North Island.

The best efforts were those of Clessawior, Auto Sweep and Lady Kyra. On the course proper, Olianga was not extended to cover {seven furlongs in 1.38. He appeared to have plenty in reserve. Shangri-la jumped off at the xinilo and a-quarter post but he was only stretched out-over the last six furlongs, which he left behind in 1.20, but he did not finish as strongly as expected. Probably he would have done better with company. , ' • > On the plough, Auto Sweep impressed by running five furlongs in 1.2 2-5. He ran the first two in 24a. His Stratford prospects will be enhanced if rain falls. . Tahurangi was sent a milo and three fur-longs, running tho last mile in IJB6. He carried a good weight, but it /was not a convincing trial. Clessamor, with a light boy, was responsible for a capital gallop when_ he covered a mile in 1.43 2-5, the first half-mile in 51s, and the last three furlongs in 395. ; • j v% Advance Plane ran five furlongs in. 1.4 3-5. He was not bustled and was going strongly at the finish. Bonny Glojy was over a length in front of Booklaw at the conclusion of seven furlongs run iu 1.30 3-5, the first halfmile taking 51s. Bonny Glow ran in an attractive manner, while Booklaw made a lino showing for a hurdler. Glenthawn displayed his accustomed pace by covering five furlongs easily in 1.3 1-5. He has unfile progress since racing at Opunake. Lady Kyra, who recorded 1.16 1-5, wasi too good for Windsoreen over six furlongs. Sho ran to the front at the turn and had plenty in reserve Lady Kyra ran her last half-mile in 50s. Wotan was sent twice round on the plough at a leisurely pace. He looks well and ( moved freely. In schooling yesterday, Booklaw (\J. Grindlay) gave a good display over five hurdles. *
