B, JORDAN RETIRES ■%. , -r SERVICE IN WELLINGTON [by telegraph—own correspondent] WELLINGTON, Thursday :; After 40 years' service in the Post Office, where he has been principal of the stores division since 1927, Mr. John Bathurst Jordan is retiring on super- ! annuation. .Joining the Post and Telegraph life* partmenfc as a cadet in the accountant's branch, General Post Office, in 1898, Mr. Jordan was promoted in 1910 to accountant in the Post and Telegraph stores, and to stores auditor in 1920. In 1925 he attained the position of stores manager. In 1927 a reorganisation of the Post and Telegraph stores took place. Arid Mr. Jord&iTwas appointed principal of the stores division in the General Post Office. His service in the department is unique, in that he has been _attached to the General Post Office, "Wellington, for the whole period of his official career.

Mr. Jordan, who is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Accountants, has also been for many years a member of the Stores Control Board and is chairman of the supplies and tenders committee.
