OLD THAMES GIRLS
FIRST MEETING FOR YEAR AN ENTERTAINING PROGRAMME Members of the Old 1 bailies Girls' Association met for the first time this year in the Pitt Street Methodist schoolroom yesterday afternoon. The president, Mrs. Alfred Oldham, presided over a large gathering of members and friends. A brief programme of musical and elocutionary items was contributed to by Mrs David McLaren and Mrs. T. Massicks, who sang, Mr. Vernon Coney, who gave cello solos, and Miss Jean Young, who recited. The accompanist was Mrs. N. Walker. A brief account of her recent visit to Svdney, during which she attended the 90th birthday celebrations of an old Thames resident, was given Mrs. Poole.v, and the secretary, Mrs. E. McMicken, described the visit of herself and the president t.o Thames when thov presented two invalid chairs to the Thames Hospital tor the use of crippled children who were undergoing treatment there. The president asked members to stand in silence as a tribute to the memory of three former Thames residents who had died recently, Mr. W. Blomfield, Mrs. N. Craig and Mrs. (.«. Douglas. Afternoon tea was served at the conclusion of the meeting by the ladies' committee convened by Mrs. M. Dawson.
