TRAFFIC OFFENCES
MANY MOTORISTS CHARGED TWO MAGISTRATES ENGAGED Alleged traffic offences of various kinds were responsible for tho appearance of about 100 motorists in the Police Court yesterday. The majority of the cases were brought by the Auckland City Council and were heard by Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., the traffic superintendent, Mr. C. Bland, prosecuting. Police charges were brought before Mr. F. K. Hunt, the police being represented by Sub-Inspec-tor Fox. Stated to have travelled at 50 miles an hour through heavy traffic- in King's Drive at night. John Jeffries Best appeared before Mr. Orr Walker on a charge of dangerous driving. Defendant sent a letter to say that lie was a Hamilton resident and did not know the street was a restricted area. A fine of £5 was imposed. For dangerous driving on the waterfront road on September 11, Burnham Orland Goodall was fined £5 and had his licence endorsed by Mr. Hunt. Both magistrates imposed fines ranging from 5s to £2 on other offenders.
