WANDERING STOCK
MOTORISTS COMPLAIN ' MANAWATU ACCIDENTS [BT TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRKSrONDEXT] PALMERSTOX NORTH, Thursday A complaint' about the number of wandering stock on the road at night was made at a meeting of the Automobile Association (Manawatu). It was stated that on Sunday night a motorist had collided with a horse near Himatangi and was now in hospital, while the horse had been killed and the motorcar completely wrecked. The same night at Tiakitahuna another driver had struck a steer. These were not the only animals on the road, other cows and horses being seen. Members mentioned that representations had been made to the authorities to have the law amended so that the fact than an animal was on the road would be prima facie evidence of negligence on the part of the owner, but this had been done without success. It was decided to bring the matter under the notice of the North Island Motor Union and the Manawatu County Council
