CARETAKER'S OFFENCE EFFORT TO HIDE CRIME i / » ./ •;> ' . s "?*' ,1" [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] WANG-ANUI, Friday In the Police Court' to-day, Leslie Clarence McSavney, labourer, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering a dwelling by day and stealing £29 10a and other articles, the property of Mrs. B. J. Taylor and another, to a total value of £3l 10s. Ho was committed" to the Supreme Court for sentence. Accused was left to look after a property while the occupants were on holiday. He broke into a dressing room, stole the money, and went to Palmerston North and Ellerslie races, spending most of the money. He then decided to stage a burglary. Ho injured himself on the face and telephoned the police to come quickly, as burglars were in the house. The police found him lying on the floor, apparently semiconscious.
