FAY COMPTON SEASON One of the most versatile actresses on the English-speaking stage, Miss Fay Compton will make her first appearance in New Zealand at His Majesty's Theatre next Saturday night. With her complete company of London principals she will arrive from Australia next Tuesday, and will spend several days in Ilotorua prior to opening the season. Miss Compton will appear 'in Laurence Housman's famous play, "Victorill ltegina." Keen interest has been aroused in Auckland in this production, which was an outstanding success in London, America and Australia. Tho production of "Victoria Pegina" in 10 scenes will make a special appeal to the eye. Victorian fashions will be seen in detail, with their frills and their cripolines. From tho moment when ■ the' Duchess of Kent, with her trailing wrap of crimson velvet, with its deep' cream lace frills at the neck and wrists, bears down upon the Archbishop of Canterbury and Lord Conyngham to tho last scene, when her descendants are clustered round the old Queen Victoria 011 the occasion of her diamond jubilee, the clothes worn by Fay Compton, as the Queen, and by the members of tho court, will be absolutely accurate of tho period.
