TE RAPA TRACK

HALF-MILE BY CALORIE TRILLIARCH OUTSTANDING SOUND FIVE BY DU MAURIER SANDRIFT SCHOOLING WELL [llV TEL KG It A I'n—- 0W X COKUKSI'OXDKXt] HAMILTON, Thursday Five furlongs by TrilMarch and a half-mile by Calorie were features of this morning's work at To I! a pa. The course proper, 50 feet out from the rails, was open. Following heavy rain, the going was a little dead, but was in good order, and improved as the morning advanced.

Star Artist (Goulsbro) and Rollicker (Long) went six furlongs together in 1.20 2-5, Star Artist carrying on to complete seven in 1.31. Both did their work well and Rollicker, who is to contest the New Zealand Handicap, is in splendid order. Royal Bachelor (Goulsbro) was easing up at the end of six furlongs in 1.21 4-5, his first half-mile being cut out in 53 2-os. Ho- is looking a picture of condition and will probably be raced on the second day of tho Takapuha meeting. Friskland and Bronzette

Calshot (Telford) and Senacre (Ozanne) ran to the half-mile in 55 3-ss. Over a similar distance, Friskland (Long) and Bronzette (Ozanne) shaped pleasingly in recording 52 2-ss. Friskland has come through her recent racing in good heart, and should give a good account of herself at Ellcrslio.

I)u Maurier (Long), assisted over the first half-inilo by Young Paddon (McKenzic) and Respectful (Ferguson), ran live furlongs in 1.6 2-5, the halfmile occupying 52 4-ss. Du Maurier did his work well and is not without prospects in the Wynyard Plate. Dark Shadow (Winder), accompanied by Malagigi (Thomson) over the first five furlongs in 1.7, negotiated seven in 1.35. Both did their work well.

Sandrift (R. E. Thomson) ran once round in 2.13, being brought home the last half-mile by Latour's Last (Oznune). Sandrift had been working and schooling well of late, and is expected to make a bold showing among the jumpers at the Takapuna meeting. Race whip (Winder) and Cometarium (Long) were companions over a round, run in 2.14 1-5, neither being extended. Cometarium will make his next appearance at the Matamata meeting next month.

Juveniles at Work

The two-year-old Vitement (Hain) and Centaurus (Winder) ran half a mile in 55 l-ss. Olympus, a two-year-old in A. J. Julian's stable, worked at half-pace on the outside of the course proper. Abbey Lass (Cotter) and Green Label (Horne), were clear of Chastisement, by Musketoon, from Don't, over half a mile in 55 3-ss.

The best effort over five furlongs was that of Trilliarch (Thomson), who, assisted over the initial half-rnilo by Calorie (Horne), Sergia (Glading), and Repoura (Winder), recorded 1.5 1-5. The first half-mile was run in 525. Trilliarch shaped well, as also did Caloric. Free Advice (W. Thomson) shaded Solomon (Horne) over a useful halfmile in 52 4-ss. Free Advice, who looks improved, is to be reserved for the second day at Ellerslie. May Song (Winder) worked freely on the inside grass, running once round easily in 2.2. Sergia and Jean Quex are duo to leave on Sunday for New Plymouth. G. P. Dowrick has been engaged for Jean Quex in the Taranaki Stakes, whilo R. Glading will have tho mount on Sergia.
