HONOURS TO INTER POKER DICE BEATS MILANEON PALUSTRE SHAPES PLEASINGLY The middle grass track was in good order at Takanini yesterday morning, when the final gallops for the Takapuna meeting were staged. Alter rain, the going was slow, especially before breakfast. lnver impressed by his gallop ovei seven furlongs. A Night Raid mare in A. Tinker's stable ran the besti six furlongs, and Palustrc, the best half mile, although not from a time point, of view.

Mia Acra, with his trainer in tho saddle, finished fast up tho straight to complete a round of pace work.

Arvakur, looking more solid ■ than prior to the Wellington meeting, was given light exercise. Ho is very bright. Anion (O'Brien) ran away from Golden Spahi (Bartle) at tjio end of six furlongs in 1.18, tho last three taking 38 3-ss. Inver (O'Brien) was joined by High Sea (G. Smith) at tho five-furlong post, and ran seven furlongs in 1.29 3-5; tho last three in 38 3-ss. Inver worked well. High Sea has improved in condition. Half-Mile by Hot Box

Hot Box (Stone), who does not appreciate soft going, ran four furlongs in 51s. He should be hard to beat in the Calliopo Handicap. Asset (T. Green) was riot doing lior best to run four furlongs in 53 3-os. This maro gives the impression that she will stay better than sprint. Disturbed sprinted up the straight. Bachelor King (Curwen) and Sir Robin (C. Walters) sprinted half a mile, from tho seven to tho three, in 50 2-ss, taking 26s for tho last quarter. Sir Robin was conceding his partner a good deal of weight and he went pleasingly.

Parquet (Bartle) was going better than Inquisitor (Mudford) at the conelusion of their work, the last three furlongs being run in 40 3-ss. Romani covered a round.

Poker Dice (Curwin) was too brilliant for Milaneon, completing four furlongs, run from the seven to the three, in 49 2-ss. He ran tho last throe in 365.

Royal Aco (T. Green) finished just in front of Gai Wind (Bartle) to record 52s at the end of four furlongs, the last three being run in 38 4-ss. Royal Aco worked lazily. Flash By was not extended. Unnamed Mare's Brilliancy The Night Raid mare (Mudford) ran six furlongs in the smart time of 1.17 2-5, the second section in 39 3-ss. She will make her appearance at the Rotorua meeting. Royeverus (G. Smith) got a long start of Lapidarian (Bartle) and Feldberg (Hatweli) for six furlongs. Tho last two ran three furlongs in 38s, and were about two lengths behind Royeverus, who was then eased up. Lapidarian finished six lengths in front of Feldberg to record 1.17 3-5. Pocket Venus (G. Smith) and Solitary (Hatweli) ran half a mile from the seven to tho threo in 49 3-ss, taking 36 3-5s for the final three furlongs. Palustre (Curwen), looking very well, ran half a mile in 50 2-ss, tho last three furlongs in 37 4-ss. Takanini-trained borses who competed at the Thames meeting maintained their winning record. Huntsman's Chorus, alter spoiling since last June, has been acquired by a patron of A. Quinlivau and will be trained at Takanini. A feature of the extensive programme .of improvements to be put into execution shortly by the Cambridge Trotting Club is the improved totalisator facilities. The fence surrounding the present structure, which will be used by lawn patrons, will be extended for the use of tho outside public.
