PRINCIPAL RESULTS (Received January 23, 0.10 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 23 At the New South Wales athletic championships yesterday the chief results were:— 220Yds.—J. Mumford, 1; T. Hampson, 2. Time, 22 8-ss.

Hop. Step and Jump.—D. Miller. 1. Distance. 48ft OVjin. Pole Vault.—W. Cartwrlght, 1; 12ft 7in. Hammer Throw.—K. Pardon, 1; 146 ft. Some of the visiting athletes took part in invitation handicaps. The 100 yds was won by C. Holmes (England) off scratch in 10s. The 880 yds was won by B. Ecles (England) in 1m 57 1-lOs, and the hammer throw by G. Sutherland (Canada), 154 ft lOVain —an Australian record.

The discus throw was won by E. Coy (Canada). 142 ft 7in —a New South Wales record.
