LIQUOR AFTER HOURS
FOUR PERSONS CONCERNED FINES IMPOSED BY COURT Charged with supplying liquor after hours, Leonard Sallen appeared in the Magistrate's Court, before Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., yesterday. At the same time William Stanley Ihew, licensee <?f the Victoria Hotel, was charged with selling liquor after hours, and Harry Leallierbarrow and Robert John Webb were charged with being on the premises after hours. Mr. McVeagh appeared for the defendants, who pleaded guilty. After hearing the evidence, the magistrate said that ho could not hold that Leather barrow was a lodger when he and Webb were served with drinks. Leatherbarrow did not become a lodger until after the sale. Sallen had probably misunderstood the position, but a fine of £3 and costs would bo imposed. The licensee was innocent of the transaction, but was vicariously liable, and would be fined £1 and costs. The two others were fined £2 and costs.
