LOWER WAIKATO TITLES TOURNAMENT AT HUNTLY [from our own correspondent] TAUPIRI, Monday *The Lower Waikato Tennis Association's championships were played at Huntly on Saturday. The standard of the play was high, especially in the junior section, in which many close and interesting games were witnessed. Results of the games were as follows: — Senior Men's Singles.—First round: Abbott beat Forsman, 6—l, 6—l; Poweil beat Hill, 6—2, 6—3; Menzies beat Abbott, 6—4, 6—3; Sampson beat Collins by default. Second round: Menzies beat Sampson, 6—4, 6 — 2 : Powell beat Hill. 6—2, 6—3. Final: Powell beat Menzies, 4 —6, 6 —3, o—3. Senior Ladies' Singles.—Miss O'Connor beat Miss Yarrow, 6—4, 6 —2; Mrs. Farrell beat Miss Johnston by defaults Final: Mrs. Farrell beat Miss O'Connor, 6—l, 2—6, 9—7. Junior. Men's Singles.—First round: Brennan beat W. Bryant, 9—3; Housley beat Smith, 9—4; Parsons beat Taylor, 9—4; Wilkinson beat C. Bryant, 9 —2. NORTH AUCKLAND COMPETITION [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WHANGAREI, Monday In the Whangarei inter-house tennis competition played under the auspices of the North Au'ckland Lawn Tennis Association, Post Office A defeated Builders by 4 sets and 35 games to 2 sets and 32 games. In the Whangarei County competition Kamo CI defeated Mairtown Cl by 9 sets and 103 games to 5 sets and 80 games. Waikiekie C defeated Maunu C by 14 sets and 84 games to no sets and 25 games. Whau Valley C2 defeated Kauri by 8 sets and 91 games to 6 sets and 80 games. CAMBRIDGE SUB-ASSOCIATION [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] CAMBRIDGE, Monday The Cambridge Tennis Sub-association's B grade competition was resumed after the holidays on Saturday, when three matches were decided. In the town zone Trinity defeated St. Paul's, and St. Andrew's defeated Leamington. The only match played in the country zone was between Horahora and Roto-o-rangi, the former winning by eight sets. Leamington defaulted to Maungatautari. Horahora secured a comfortable win over Roto-o-rangi at Horahora by 11 sets (84 games) to 3 sets (67 games). Two of the sets were not played. A closely-contested match was played between Trinity and St. Paul's on the former club's courts, each side winning eight sets. Trinity won the match by 82 games to 77 games. Only 12 sets were played in tho match between Leamington and St. Andrew's, the latter winning by 7 sets to 5.
