AUCKLAND CARNIVAL NIGHT MEETING ARRANGED RELAY CHAMPIONSHIP The manager of the Canadian Empire Games team, Mr. M. M. Robinson, advised the Auckland Athletic Centre last night that all the track and field athletes in his party would be able to appear at a night carnival which the centre hopes to hold at Carlaw Park on Monday, February 21, subject to tho approval of the New Zealand Association. It was reported that 118 entries had been rcecived for the provincial relay championship meeting at Hamilton on Saturday, compared with 162 for last year's meeting. Tthe Waikato Sub-Centre wrote protesting at the arrangement of heats at the provincial trials held at Carlaw Park in December, four Hamilton runners being placed in the one heat, and against the narrowness of the lanes provided. It was pointed out that there was a draw for heats, the four Hamilton athletes being drawn together by a coincidence, and that narrow lanes were preferred to a sharper bend in the track. The framing of a reply was left to the secretary The principle whether the time had come when, with a thousand athletes in its area, tho Auckland Centre could allow two athletic meetings on the same Saturday afternoon was raised when both the Papaklira and Auckland Clubs desired to hold meetings on the same date. It was decided there was room for two successful meetings, the matter being left for amicable settlement by the clubs concerned. OLD GRAMMARIANS' CLUB POINTS MEETING TO-MORROW The following events will be held at the ninth points meeting of the Old Grammarians' Amateur Athletic Olub to take place at Mountain Road tomorrow, at 5.45 p.m.:—7syds, junior and senior; 440 yds., junior and senior; three-quarter mile; putting the shot; high jump, junior and senior. Teams will assemble to-morrow for practice for the relay championship at Hamilton on Saturday.
