DANISH GIRL'S RECORDS 300 AND 400 METRES (Received January 17, 5.90 p.m.) COPENHAGEN, Jan. 16 •The Danish swimmer Miss Ragnihild Hveger covered 300 metres free-style in 3m 48 4-5s and 400 metres in 5m S 1-Ss. breaking her own world's records.
On December 12 Miss Hveger swam 300 metres in 3m 49 4-5s and 400 metres in 5m lis. Until Miss Hveger's times are approved the world's records for 300 metres" and 400 metres, 3m 58s and 5m ifis,' are held by Miss \V. den Ouden, of Holland. The speed at which Miss Hveger swam is illustrated by the fact that, over 400 metres, she moved practically as fast as did L. Newell, of Canterbury. when he won the 440 yards men's championship of Ne« Zealand last week in 5m 10 2-ss.
