OBITUARY
MRS. MARGARET WOODS Tho dentil has occurred of Mrs. Margaret Woods, of Morgantown, To Aroha, who was a resident of Thames and AVaihi at tho time of tho gold boom. I\lrs. Woods, who was 73 years old, was horn *at sea in the sailing ship Ernestine, which was on its way from Ireland to New Zealand. Coincidence is that Mrs. Woods' husband, tho late Air. ,T. Woods, also was born at sea. Tho family went to Thames, where her father became manager of several mines. At first there was no accommodation for the family and they lived in a tent where the Thames Hospital now stands. Mrs. Woods was educated at Thames and was married there, later going with her husband to Waihi. Sho is survived by three children. T&E REV. H. TE W. MUNRO [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN COHKKBPON DKNT] ROTOR UA, Monday The death occurred at Manurewa of tho Rev. Himepiro to Wharekauri Munro, a prominent member of tho Arawa tribe. He was a son of the lato Mr. James Munro and Mrs. Puhiawe Hanuera Pango, one of the original donors of reserves in Rotorun, including Pukeroa, and an early member of the Ilotorua Town Board. In his early years tho late Mr. Munro was apprenticed to the Into Mr. W. H. Corbott as a wheelwright. Ho studied for the Holy Orders under tho late Archdeacon Chatterton at Gisborne, and was. ordained just prior to tho Groat War. Ho was stationed in liotorua and Hastings, after which ho was commissioned for missionary work among the Maori people in the South Island, and later in the Far North. Failing health compelled Mr. Munro to retire from active parish work. Ho began farming, but later gavo up this ivork to como to Hotorua, where lie became a partner in the firm of Munro and Painton. The tangi which is in progress at Tamatekapua meeting; house, Ohinemutu, is widely attended by both local and outside tribe*.
