WEDDING

TURNBULL —PEARSON A picturesque wedding of interest to a large circle of friends took place in St. Luke's Church, Remuera, last evening, when Joy Helen, youngest daughter of Mrs. Pearson and the late Mr. Robert Pearson, of Wellington, was married to Henry Leyden, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. William Turnbull, of Wellington. The Rev. R. G. McDowall officiated and the wedding music was played by Mr. M. Yallop. A beautiful gown of deep cream souple satin was worn by the bride, who entered the church with her brother, Mr. Jack Pearson. Fashioned on classical lines, the bodice was cut with a high softlv-draped cowl neckline and long, tight-fitting sleeves, while the skirt fell gracefully from a plaited girdle of satin into a long oval train. A second train was formed by the lovely old family veil of Brussels net worn in soft folds over the head and caught on either side with a small spray of orange blossom. A bouquet of cream roses and stephanotus was carried.

In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Esme Pearson, Miss Shirley Hart and Miss Joan Wright, while Anno and Elizabeth Moss, twin sisters, carried the bride's train and Jillian Wright acted as flower girl. The attendants made a charming group in early Victorian frocks of cream brocaded taffetas, worn with coronets of cherry flowers. The flower girl was dressed in a frock of buttercup silk. All carried posies of clierry-toned flowers. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Eric Pankhurst as best man and by Messrs. Henley McKegg and Keith Whitcombe as groomsmen. A profusion of lovely summer flowers in pastel tones, decorated the reception rooms and a large marquee was erected on the lawn. Mrs. Pearson, the mother of the bride, wore a gracefully-trained frock of black ring velvet and a black picture liat finished with bird-of-para-dise plumes. She carried a bouquet of amethyst shaded flowers. Mrs. Turnbull, the bridegroom's mother, was in a black and white patterned cloque frock under a black georgette cloak, and a black ballibuntal straw hat. Hnr bouquet was in tones of deep rose and cherry; Mrs. Perkins was in a trained frock of midnight blue souple satin. She carried a bouquet of soft matching blue flowers.
