Monday 3 Organisation in the interests of tie National Party is proceeding throughout the Waitomo electorate, and attention is at present being devoted N to the'northern end of the electorate. At a meeting held at Wharepuhunga, Mr. G. E. Goddard presided over a good attendance. The meeting was addressed by Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. for Waitomo, and by Mr. Noiman Dey," the Waikato organiser. Mr. Broadfoot, who was very cordially received, explained recent political developments and spoke on the work of the session just closed. Mr. Dey detailed the organisation in vart ous districts, with particular reference to the WaitomQ electorate. It was unanimously decided to form a branch at Wharepuhunga and Mr. Goddard waa elected chairman and Mr. T. D. Duffy secretary. -~
BAY OP PLENTY AREA ORGANISATION WORK [BY TELFGHArH—OWN OPOTIKI, Monday The chairman of the Bay of Plenty electorate committee -of the National" Party, Mr. F. J. Short, accompanied* by Mr. C. Black, has just completed a tour of the East Coast part of tha~ electorate. They report having held a T series of meetings of party at Te Araroa, Ruatoria. Tokomaru Bay and Tolaga Bay. It is stated that membership is growing rapidly and the party: is securing very strong support.
M£RSDEH EXECUTIVE ELECTION OF OFFICERS - [fbom ova own correspondent] WHANGABEI. Monday The first meeting of tho National Party s Marsden electoral executive was held last week, when Mrs. W. E. Lilley, Messrs. H. Hutchinson, A. K. Franks, F. E. Cullen and S. W. Crawford were added to the executive. The following officers were elected Chairman, Mr. H. W. Crawford; vice-: chairman, Mr. It. K. Trimmer; emergency executive, Messrs. R. G. HosKing. L. H. Weston, L. A. Johnson, A. K. Franks, M. Clarke, and the chairman and vice-chairman. It was decided that all branch membership rolls for the selection of representatives to attend the meeting to select the candidate be closed on February 1, 1938. The meeting decided to forward a letter of congratulation to Professor R M. Algie upon taking up the position as. organiser of the Auckland Provincial Freedom, Association. It was. further decided to congratulate th?. association on its endeavours to stimulate a widespread interest in political questions and to demonstrate tho. necessity for the maintenance of constant vigilance in the preservation «-■- civic liberty. t -m-I
