ONEHUNGA WATER

MOUNT ROSKIL.L COMPLAINTS^ CHEMICAL TEST TO BE MADE~ Dissatisfaction with the water supply was expressed by a depuW tuition from the Mou*t Roskill Road - Board which recently waited on the Waterworks Committee of the Onehunga Borough Council. Members of the deputation complained of grit in the water and also of the latter's unpleasant taste. They also stated that many of the Mount Roskill ratepayers alleged that the electric elements in hot. water systems corroded very rapidly. ; \ Reporting to the council last evening. the committee's recommendation was adopted, that a chemical test of the water be obtained forthwith and ; that if the board is arranging for a—'similar test both be taken simultane-' ously. It was pointed out that a chemical'. analysis of the council's water supply ; was made periodically and that the re*j ports had been of a uniformly satisfactory nature. It was reported that Department of Health had undertaken; to have a special analysis made, theresult of which has not yet been conw< mu»icated to the council. Mr. F. Gilchrist mentioned that some two years ago a similar trouble had been traced to concrete pipes in the Mount Roskill * district.
