Dec. 17 The Berlin correspondent of the Times states that General Goering, act-ing-Minister of Economics, has signed an order reducing the length of shirts by two inches back and front. The tex- ~ tile industry was previously ~ notified that a considerable amount of material could be saved by shortening men's shirts, but it failed to take the hint, hence the arbitrary shortening. Substitute materials for sheets and pillowslips are on sale marked "Must not be placed in water hotter than 158 degrees Fahrenheit."
