DISTRESSED AREAS
(PROGRESS OF DEVELOPMENT EXPENDITURE IN BRITAIN 1 British Wireless RUGBY, Dec. 18 The Commissioner for Special Areas reports considerable progress with development in the North-Eastern Trading Estate in Team Valley, near Gateshead, Durham, where 28 factories have been completed, of which 26 are occupied. Twenty-three are in course of erection ancb 17 further tenancies have been definitely arranged. Four factories are occupied and 15 are being built at Treforest Estate, near Cardiff. The commissioner's total commitments at tie end of November tor grants to assist industry, land settlement and public health schemes and 'other grants aggregate £13,399,000.
