STRIKERS TO RESUME
MONTH'S IDLENESS ENDS TATU DISPUTE SETTLED MINE TO BE WORKED TO-DAY [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] NEW PLYMOUTH, Sunday After almost a month's idleness, 50 men employed in the Egmont Collieries mine at Tatu have returned to work. The strike arose through the refusal of the manager to reinstate a man who had been dismissed. It is understood that the worker has now been reinstated: Slips have occurred in the workings while the mine has been idle and men have begun to clear the fall£ away so that mining may be resumed on Monday. The mine is in rough country 70 miles east of Stratford and 10 miles from Ohura. It normally produces about 100 tons of coal a day. The coal is conveyed by overhead cable three miles to the Mangapara station, on the Stratford Main Trunk railway.
