SEVERE COLD WAVE

I> Half the American continent is covered with snow and ice, in the most severe cold wave of the winter. Thirty-seven deathß are attributed to the weather. Temperatures below zero are recorded in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota and loAva, Forty degrees below are recorded at Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada. A shortage of bread and milk is reported from Kenmore, New York, where the snow is five feet deep. Bail and road services are blocked in a number of areas, including Toronto, where a blizzard hae been raging for two days. l'armers in the South are artificially heating their crops to prevent their destruction.
WINTER IN ENGLAND HEAVY falls of snow British Wireless \ RUGBY. Dec. 9 Snow fell heavily in many parts, of Britain yesterday and many roads became impassable. Snow fell in London for the first time this winter.
