TOC H LAMPS

FIVE FOR DOMINION LIGHTING CEREMONIES LONDON, Nov. 30 Five new Toe H lamps for New Zealand will be lit by the Lord President of the Council, Viscount Halifax, on behalf of the King at the annual festival in York on December 11. They will represent Cliristchurch North, Wellington South, Invercargill, Timaru and New Plymouth. Dr. F. T. Bowerbank, chairman of the New Zealand executive, will bear the Wellington South lamp. The annual world chain of light will begin with the lighting of a Calcutta lamp at 9 p.m., local time. The ceremony will travel -westward, taking place at 9 p.m., local time, December 12, in all centres in New Zealand and Australia. The Rev. T. B. Clayton, leader of the movement,-in a message to New Zealand and Australia, said the living force of 30,000 Toe H branches is proving that the movement has achieved victory over other forms of memorial. "As we prophesied when we unveiled memorials, people have ceased to mourn over them," he added. "Stone is losing its power to influence the popular imagination."
