ROAD IMPROVEMENTS

PAPATOETOE DISTRICT REQUESTS FROM RESIDENTS Several petitions requesting roading improvements in various localities were received at th& Papatoetoo lown Board meeting on Tuesday night. .Residents jn Wintere Road drew attention to the conditions there and stated that they suffered from flooding nuisances to "an alarming degree." The board decided to advise that the work mentioned was provided for in the estimates and was being started, at an early date. A request for the construction of a concrete footpath on the northern side of Hoteo Avenue was received, the board deciding to instruct the foreman to effect improvements to the present surface. The condition of the footpath in Omagh Avenue was the subject of complaint, and reconditioning work was authorised. In replv to a letter regarding the state of St. George Street it was decided to advise that finances would not permit certain permanent work being undertaken, but that clearing and improvements had already-been sanctioned.

The Railway Department requested the board to say whether it was prepared to supply the departmental residences with water. It was agreed to offer supplies' at- 2s a 1000 gallons.
