MANY WINNEES LISTED WIN AND PLACE BETTING FIELDS AVERAGE FIFTEEN

! Of tho 100 horses nominated for tho : "W nikato Trotting Club's Summer ■ Meeting, only seven failed to accept, ' there boing' an average of 15 acceptors ' in each race on Saturday. The trotters' races, based on the slowest limits, have filled remarkably well, 24 paying up for the Innovation Handicap and IS for the Claudelands Handicap. With 17 on tho limit of the former raco, there is no scarcity of maiden trotters The events for novice pacers, the Frankton Handicap and Stewards' Handicap, have each drawn 23 acceptors. There are 13 useful pacers in the President's Handicap. A feature is the number of competitors who have won dr have been placed this season. Four of the winners, Musketeer, Crocus, Trevor de Oro and Great Chum, will meet in the President's Handicap. The first three are also listed for tho To Kowhai Handicap, in which they will meet two othei winners, Nawton Parrish and Compass. Grattan Girl, who won at Epsom,' and Mountain Flight, who was successful at i Awapuni, will make a good combinai tion in the Newstead Handicap, while Hori Bingen and Grattan Girl are tho only recent winners in the saddle event. Cherrill is tho only one with a winning performance in saddle. Adversity, who won at Palmerston North, and Mandalay, a Thames winner, I are the successful novices, but Cavan Chief, Kewpio's Queen, Roma Girl, | Worthy Song, and Captain Scott have gained a place, while Axminster won at i tho matinee meeting. In the trotters' section, Querida won iat Epsom, while Lady Bunker and ; Colleen Murphy were winners at Thames. Atarau King, who has two engagements, was twice in the money at I Thames, and Lord Wrack, Blandford and Gay Sister, who have each registered a third placing will meet in the i Te Kowhai Handicap. It was her second success this season. It is expected that Wild Chase, Paper Slipper, Nightdress and Trench Fight will represent the stable of H, and A Cutts at the Ellerslie summer meeting. It is intended also to bring Argentic to contest his third Auckland Cup. Grey Honour was in his best form when he won tho Wakanui Handicap at Ashburton in 1.11 2-5 and was able to concede the smart Top How 171b. and a head beating. Rebel Chief was turned sideways when tho barrier lifted and lost all chance. t ; Haupongi, who ran second to Maori Song in the Crofton Handicap at Trentham in July, is entered to make his first appearance this season at Otaki. Now a six-year-old, Haupongi has had very little racing. He .is a half-brother to Brabant, who is now racing in South Africa. Following two good performances at TRiccarton, Haorcpo was made favourite for the Lagmhor Plato at tho Ashburton meeting and ho won well from Lady Leigh, who is another improving three-year-old. Haorepo is a gelding by Niphtmareh from Azalea and is owned and trained-by. P. V. Mason at Riocarton.
