TRACK VERY DUSTY MUNGA TANGI GOES WELL GREAT CHUM AT TWO MILES BY ABAYDOS A tliigk cushion of dust Jay on tlio specially-prepared dirt track at Epsom yesterday. Munga Tangi, 1.7 2-5, returned the best lialf-inilo time. Other sound e(torts were those of Great Chum, Bismuth and Marcus, 1.8; Lucky • Love, 1.8 3-5; Kewpie's Crest and Kewpio's Queen, 1.9. Horses to race at Hamilton were worked the reverse way. Munga Tangi (L. Laver) covered two miles in 4.40, tiio first mile, under a hold, in 2.24, hut he stepped the next half-mile in 1.8 3-5 and the final section in 1.7 2-5. Great Chum (S. M. August), with Bismuth (G. H. Stubbs), took the lead early, to pass the mile in 2.23. Bismuth was with Great Chum at the mile and a-half in 3.32, and they' finished together in 4.40. Over the last mile Great- Chum covered a deal more ground, and when Bismuth drew up on the inside the former held him comfortably. Great Churn is very fit. Petite Jewel (W. H. Andrews) and Fisher (A. Baton), after going half a mile, were joined by Frank Best (J. Furnell) in saddle. Frank Best ran his first half in 1.5, but ■ho tired badly, and Fisher shaded Petit® Jewel at the end of a mile and a-half in 3.38, the last y half in 1.10. Fisher appears sound again and showed dash. Petite Jewel was not pressed at the finish. Frank Best took 2.31. Young Rodney Trots Steadily Argolis (S. M. August), unhoppled, and assisted by Young Rodney (L. Laver) in the middle section, worked two miles in 4.47, after breaking. He ran his last half in 1.10. Young Rodney was then sent two miles in 4.55. He trotted steadily and was not taxed to show 1.11 for the final section. Lucky Love (W. C. Wilietts), freelegged, worked his;last mile in 2.20, the final half in 1.8 3-5. Queen Pot (J. Garnett) led Clay Pot (S. M. August) throughout a mile and a-quarter in 3.6, the first mile in 2.27. Queen Pot is coining to hand nicely after her spell, while her sister is in good condition. Dick Redmond (A. Paton) and Richmond King (C. G. Lee) were associated over two miles in 5.6. Dick Redmond, who is still growing, gave a sound displav. Blue Crest (H. McNaughton) was not asked to improve on a 2.38 rate over two circuits. The three-year-old, who showed promise in the spring, looks well. Marcus in Saddle Marcus (D. Gillard) in saddle, was too smart for Worthy Quest (G. H. Stubbs) over a mile in 2.17. He ran the last half' in 1.8 and handled the conditions well. "Worthy Quest recorded 2.18, the last half in 1.10. The first half-mile in 1.10 was the best portion of a mile and a-quarter by Anthony's Gift (W. Olive), the mile taking 2.25, and the full distance, 3.5. Ranfurl.v Lass (A. Brycc) after going an easy mile with Mahjong (D. Gillard) went another one alone in 2.30. Mahjong is a roan trotting filly by Maxegin —Katute.. Gold Kip (W. C. Wilietts) led out from Great Sonoma (D. Cook) by two seconds. Gold Kip passed the mile in 2.27, where Great Sonoma made a skip, but recovering, he was alongside Gold Kip at the end of a mile and a-half in 3.36, showing LlO for the last half: Great Sonoma has never looked in brighter condition. Gold Kip trotted the distance in 3.38. Pirate's Last (L. J. Mahoney) and Autumn Lu (G. H. Stubbs) went away two seconds ahead of Braemar (A. Brycc) for a mile and a-half, but with the leaders making mistakes. Braemar had charge before four furlongs. Pirate's Last reached Braemar at the mile in 2.28. and the latter breaking a little further on, Mahoney's charge went on to win well in 3.40. Except for his early lapse. Pirate's Last gave a sound display ancT lie is oh the improve. Braemar always had the measure of Autumn Lu, who did not handle the turns well. Jewel Crest Beats Kewpie's Bingen Jewel Crest (W. C. Wilietts) finished too solidly for Kewpie's Bingen (H. McNaughton) at the end of a mile and a-quarter in 2.56 3-5, the last half in 1.10. Kewpie's Bingen was going well at the mile, but was inclined to mix his gait under pressure. Assisted bv Forest Jewel (L. Mitchell) for the first mile and a-half, and Kewpie's Queen (J. Gee) in the last mile and a-half, Kewpie's Crest (W. Gee) worked two miles in 4.48, the first nine in 2.28, and the mile and a-half in 3.39, and finished full of running. • Forest Jewel, after reaching.the mile and a-half in 3.42, was pulled up.
