AUCKLAND CONTRACTS MT. ROSKILL AND DEVONPORT 41 NEW HOMES AUTHORISED LAND AT POINT CHEVALIER ■ [by TEJiECItAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] WELLINGTON,, Wednesday Contracts for several small housing projects in the vicinity of. Auckland have boon approved by the Cabinet, according to a statement made to-day by the Parliamentary Fnder-Secrctarv in charge of Housing, '.Mr. .J. A. Lee. The largest single scheme is that to be developed on the Buekland estate at .Mount Roskill, where 28 houses are to be erected. Frequent representations concerning this particular project have been made to the Government by Mr, A. S. Richards, M.R. for Roskill. Mr. Lee said to-day that the contracts for the Buekland estate scheme }ih < I been approved .'is follows:—Mr. A. H. Beamish, 10 houses, two of which are semi-detached; Mr. G. \\. Allen, nine houses; Mr. H. T. Short, six houses, four of which are semidetached: Messrs. McDonald and Son, three houses. Discussing other schemes, Mr. l.ee said that a contract ,for the erection of eight houses at Devonport had been let to Mr. F. J. Fawcett and a contract for live houses to Mr . J. Skelton. Approval had also been given of the purchase of 18 building sections situated at Shakespeare and Rama Roads, l'oint Chevalier. Housing schemes were also being pushed forward in provincial towns. Mr. Lee continued. The tender of Messrs. S. Jnrvis and Son lor the erection of 10 houses at Tc Kuiti had been accepted, and approval had been given of the purchase of three further areas of land at Pacroa, providing sufficient building sections for an additional seven houses.
