MARKETS RECOVERY
ACTIVE AND STRONG REMARKABLE CHANGE OCCURS LONDON, Oct. 21 Markets were active and strong following the overnight recovery of Wall Street and the non-intervention news. Engineering, shipping, oil and rubber shares were especially favoured and there were many substantial gains.The change of sentiment is remarkable, although buying is mainly professional It is felt the public will not be long in following the lead provided Wall Street manages to hold its recovery. NEW YORK ACTIVITY FIRMING IN PRICES SLACKENING AND RECOVERY (Received October 22, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK. Oct, 21 Although trading was slower, the stock market was most active, 3,460,000 shares changing hands. Many closed from one to four points higher. Prices receded after a brisk opening, but recovered in the final hour.
