AUCKLAND TROTS

WAIKATO CANDIDATES SEVERAL HORSES IN FORM ( NOBLE PRINCE DOING WELL ( BY ABAYDOS Twenty horses are in regular work at Claudelands and several are being pre- 1 pared at Cambridge and Tamahere. £ Stables in the Waikato will be strongly f represented at the Auckland meeting c 011 Saturday and Monday. j Noble Prince, Lady Fame and Our McKinney are engaged in the Jellicoe j Handicap. Noble Prince has done well since joining C. It. Wood's stable. M. | Stewart has Lady Fame in great heart and she has raced consistently , this season. She is also well placed in the Electric Handicap. Our McKinney has been causing N. 1 L. Vcrnall some anxiety, as he has : shown symptoms of soreness alter working fast on the hard tracks. If con- i ditions become easier, he may still liavo to bo reckoned with in his races. Blandford, who showed improvement at his last start, has gone on the right way and may soon return to his best form. As he is getting ready for Addington, King's Play is not to raco at Epsom, but Stewart will brinp; King Country and Guide Peter with Lady Fame and in their respective events they should take beating. Beturn of Bingen Chief Another Claudelands candidate who is showing dash is Bingen Chief and his track displays indicate that he is capable of going a good race in the Electric Handicap. W. E. Cockbill has been patient with his charge, who has not raced for some time. In addition to Noble Prince, Wood has Baron Derby and Bed Coat. The last-named is a full-sister to Taipare, Te Mahanga and Kia Kaha. E. Ii Smith's pacers. Sir Frank and Hori Bingen, have been doing everything required. Sir 1* rank has not had a race this season, but Hori Bingen won well in August. C. Moran has a useful team, of which Meadow King, Compass and Moira Bingen, the last-named a promising maiden trotter, will race at Epsom. Meadow King has not done much fast Avork, but is in good order. He will be driven by C. P. Wood. Compass prefers an easy track, but may race well. Meadow King and Compass have been nominated for Addington, but require a win at Auckland to bo in their right class. Our Peggy only requires to be attuned to make things interesting in the Stewards' Handicap. R. A. McMillan has the three-year-old Uenuku, Sophy Bingen and Ratepayer to carry his colours. Uenuku ran creditably at the matinee meeting and should improve with experience. Although she has not become solid, Sophy Bingen can trot fast and is a smart beginner. Ratepayer, a relative to Taxpayer and Refund, is engaged for the second day. He is a promising young pacer, but may need a race or two. Chance for Adversity At Cambridge A. J. Forbes and G. T. Mitchell have useful teams. Flash By, a maiden trotter, is a relative to Reception, who won three trotting events last season, and is the backmarker in the second division of the Improvers' Handicap, in which she has a difficult task. Roman Chief, who was a sturdy three-year-old, should be a better horse this season and is nicely placed in the October Handicap. Mitchell's representatives are Adversity, Frankenstein, Spessiva and Elissa. Frankenstein is an unraced novice by Frank Worthy from an Our Thorpe mare. Adversity has started twiee and in his second effort was runner-up to Taruna in the Trial Handicap at Hutt Park. Spessiva won three races in quick succession last spring and then lost form. She gave a glimpse of her better quality when she finished third in August. Although he declined his engagement on Saturday, Nawton Parrish is working attraotively at Hamilton and if produced on Monday should give a good account of himself. He is a useful improver and is best suited by firm tracks.
