GOVERNMENT CRITICISED The Government's treatment of farmers was criticised by the Dominion president of tho New Zealand Farmers' Union, Mr. W. W. Mulholland, when addressing Papakura and district farmers at a meeting in tho parish hall. Mr. E. D. McLennan presided. Mr. Mulholland referred to the Government's claim that it had presented the farmers of the country with £650,000, tho alleged deficit, and said this represented in principal nothing more or loss than the ordinary farmers £IOOO overdraft. The rising prices of butter-fat had wiped out more than three-quarters of tliis deficit. Referring to rising prices. Mr. Mulholland said it did not matter if the price of butterfat was 8d or Is 6d a lb. It was no use if the price was Is 6d and costs were Is Bd.
