NEW ZEALAND TREES

PLEA FOR CULTIVATION A strong plea for the planting of New Zealand native trees and shrubs was made by Mr. I?. L. Thornton in a lecture given on Monday night under the auspices of the Auckland Horticultural Society in the Society of Arts rooms. Mr. Thornton exhibited a number of trees and shrubs and stated that they could be grown in any garden with a reasonable amount of care. It was a fallacy to think that New Zealand plants were difficult to propagate, the speaker added. Most could be grown from seeds or cuttings and a great many were more beautiful than exotics. The lecture was one of a series being held each month by the Auckland Horticultural Society.
