NEW CARGO SHIP
SUSSEX AT AUCKLAND FIRST VISIT TO DOMINION Laden deep in the water with a capacity cargo, the Federal Line s new motor-ship Sussex arrived at Auckland early yesterday afternoon from Liverpool, via Panama, after a voyage of 32 days. She is at Queen's A\harf.> Launched from the Clydebank .vard of John Brown and Company, Limited, early tliis year, the Sussex is on her first visit to the Dominion, her maiden voyage having been made to Australia. She is of 11.06:5 tons gross/ her lenpth between perpendiculars is -532 ft., breadth 70!'t. and depth 34ft. Gin. The ship has a straight stem and cruiser stern.
In spite of the fact that she was drawing Js2ft. Gin. on her arrival, the time of the voyage would have been improved upon had the vessel not i ll countered rough conditions on aP* proaching the Now Zealand coast, 0 commander of the Sussex, Ashworth, was formerly master of . Dorset and is well known in the 1 Zealand trade.
