FALL FROM BUILDING
PAINTER KILLED INSTANTLY ONCE WELL-KNOWN BANDSMAN [by TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] WANGANUI, Monday • A painter, Mr.. Charles Austin, aged about 50. a married man with two children, employed by Messrs. R. and E. Tingev, slipped and fell a distance of 30ft. on to the concrete yard at the Rutland Hotel at noon to-day. He was killed instantly. He had just completed painting the spouting in a corner when, according to an eye-wituessyi;ljis paint pot slipped on the window sill. In attempting to recover the pot he overbalanced. Mr. Austin was a well-known exinember of the Queen Alexandra Band and won the euphonium championship/ on two occasions.
