AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS FURTHER PROGRESS MADE The Auckland provincial badminton championships wore continued at the Colonial Motor Company's Building last evening, when tho .1) grade events were advanced to tho final stages and a start was made with tho C grade men's singles. Play will bo continued to-night, and to-morrow night and the finals arc set down for decision on Saturday evening. Following are the results: — D Grade.—Men's singles: Thomas heat Cochran, 21 —13. Semi-finals: Deverill bent Watts; 21 —0; Thomas beat Simmonds, 23 13. Men's Doubles.—Third round: Smith and Vail beat Sharpies and Walker, 21—18 Semi-finals: A. and I. Cutlicld beat Hopkins and Johns, 2J —l4; Smith and Vail beat Cochrane and Hushes, 21—K>. Combined Doubles.—Semi-finals: Husrhes and Miss Greaves beat Simmonds and Miss Shand, 23 —20; S'mitli and Miss Hansen beat McCallum and Miss Stonson, 21—ft. G Grade.—Men's singles, first round: Newell beat Henderson, 21—5; Lendrum beat Smyths, 21—1; Stone beat CJeaJ, 21—19.
