ONE TREE HILL BOROUGH
RENAMING OF STREETS FEW CHANGES INVOLVED "The One Tree Hill borough is fortunate in that there are not a great number of changes involved," said the Mayor,. Mr. I. J. Goldstine, at the meeting last night of the Borough Council, when the alteration of street names to avoid duplications was being discussed. The Suburban Local 80-lies' Association had forwarded a copy of a letter from the chief postmaster at Auckland giving the street names and proposed changes. Mr. Goldstine said the only course the borough could take at present was to indicate whether it agreed to the proposals. The council endorsed' the proposed changes and decided to compliment the chief postmaster on his comprehensive report on the condition of street names in Auckland.
Tho City Council advised that the arrangement for tho distribution of heavy traffic licence fees expired on May 31 and suggested that the same basis of distribution should be continued pending the issue of a statement by tho Minister of Transport, tho Hon. R. Seinple, on various motor taxation problems. Tho Borough Council approved of the suggestion. The donation of £1 Is each was mado to the Labour Day Committee, for the purpose of providing children's prizes, and to tho Workers' Educational Association.
