CAR'S WILD CAREER

TREE, WALL AND POLE HIT DRIVER ESCAPES LIGHTLY A motor-car driven by Mr. Frederick William Kiel, of Masscy Road, IMangero, ran off the road at a corner at tho southern end of Otahuhu in the early hours of yesterday morning, and capsized after mounting the footpath. The car, which was proceeding northward on tho Great South Road, crashed into a plane tree, shattering tho 9in. trunk and carrying the upper portion for some distance. After travelling for about 30ft. along the sidewalk, it struck a brick wall fronting a residence and rebounded to collide with a powerpole before overturning. Several of tho telegraph wires and power-line connections to residences were broken. ill'. Biel suffered a few superficial facial cuts and abrasions, which were treated at the surgery of Dr. E. R. Lange, to which ho walked unaided. Tho car was extensively damaged, and had to bo towed away.
