HOSPITAL DESIGN
PROGRESS IN AUSTRALIA • EXAMPLE FOR DOMINION Australian methods of hospital design and construction were praised by Dr. E. B. Gunson, of Auckland, when ho returned yesterday from a visit abroad. Dr. Gunson said there was nothing in tho United Kingdom comparable with tho buildings being erected in Australia, and New Zealand would bo fully justified in taking the methods of the Commonwealth as' an example. "To-day Germany is the homo of modern hospital construction, and it is hero that many of the accepted new ideas have been worked out," Dr. Gunson said. "Tho Australian architects, Messrs. Stephenson, Meldruin and Turner, who prepared a rebuilding scheme for tho Auckland Hospital, were admitted exports with an international reputation. As an alternative to obtaining this expert advice, New Zealand authorities might go to Germany or America, or to an authority in Birmingham."
