WOMEN'S DIVISION

T<> Awamutu.—The July meeting was presided over by Mrs. Neill; who, together with JNliss Eyre, gave a report 011 the business transacted at the conference. Special mention was made of Mrs. F. J. B. Byburn's election to the J)ominion advisory board. Mesdanies Skinner and Woodward gave solos, the accompanist being Miss North. Mrs. Mac Donald, Ngaroino, and Mrs. McKec, Pukeatua, judged the shortbread competition, which was won by Mrs. Patteson, with Mrs. Bae second. Ngaliinepouri.—The monthly meeting was held in the local hall, Mrs. J. McWhanncll presiding. The annual social evening, which took the form of a concert and dance, proved a success in every way. Mrs. Ncwdick gave a talk, oil the New Education Fellowship lectures and Major Liddell gave an address on prison reform. The competitions resulted as follows:—Flowers, Mrs. Fitness; gill, Mrs. McWhannel). Ngatea.—Mrs. Wallace Jones presided at the monthly meeting. Owing to the popularity of the division's cookery books, many orders were received. Mrs. Donovan's report for the year was read. The annual ball was a great success. Mrs. Wallace Jones welcomed the guests. The supper committee comprised Mesdanies Hodgson, Sydenham, B. Burke, Barr, Wheeler. Shaw and Tatton.

Awaken.—Tho monthly meeting was held in the Awakeri Hall, Mrs. Luxton who was the branch delegate to the recent. Dominion conference in Wellington, presided, and gave a comprehensive report of the business transacted there. The roll-call "My pot aversion and why," was well responded to. Competitions resulted as follows:—Eggless fruit cake: Mrs. Briz/.le, 1; Mrs. T. McGougan, 2; Mrs. L. Grey, 3. Bloom: Mrs. Bowers, 1; Mrs. Brizzle, 2; Mrs. Maunder, i). Afternoon tea was served by Mesdamcs Cooper, Carling and Da vies.

Beaehlands. —The monthly meeting was held at Miss Floyd's home. The president, Mrs. Murphy, presided and welcomed Mrs. Lunn, one of the first members to join the branch and a resident of the district for many years. Mesdames Strait mi and Kennard, hostesses for the day, served afternoon tea. Miss J'. Jacob, a junior member, demonstrated loom reed work.

Brighani.'s Creek. —Three new members received at a recent meeting wore Mrs. Wootton, Mrs. Hasard and Miss ,J. Hasard. A competition for the best home-made gingernuts was won by Mrs. K. Sanford, with Mrs. McLellan and Miss Thomas second. Mrs. Wright, of Taupaki, gave a demonstration of pic-ture-making.
